The fit-out and refurbishment of The Leith Agency’s headquarters at Commercial Quay created a distinctive and adaptable workplace that reflects the agency’s creative identity and supports the collaborative nature of its work.
Located within a former bonded warehouse, the design responds to the building’s industrial heritage while introducing a bold, contemporary character. Existing stonework, exposed services and structural elements are complemented by reclaimed timber, brick, steel mesh and galvanised metal, creating a layered and intentionally raw material palette.
A branded reception establishes an immediate sense of arrival, while the wider workplace provides varied settings for focused work, informal discussion, creative reviews and team collaboration. Social and breakout areas are integrated throughout, encouraging spontaneous interaction and allowing ideas to develop beyond the traditional desk. Colour, graphics, feature lighting and playful details bring energy to the interior, with individually themed meeting spaces reinforcing the agency’s connection to its Leith surroundings.
The result is a characterful and flexible workplace with its own unmistakable identity, rooted in both the building and its location. It balances the practical requirements of a creative business with an inspiring environment that encourages experimentation, conversation and original thinking throughout the working day.
